'Public Space Art' is an initiative aimed at presence of art in public spaces of smaller urban areas in the south of Serbia. It was initiated by an informal group of people coming from different professional backgrounds following an exhibition titled 'High Street Transition' that took place in Vladicin Han in 2011.

The emphasis is put on experimental approach and pursuit of framework for continuous action and use of art in the life of a community mainly isolated from immediate experience of contemporary creativity.

Public space is singled out as an interesting and typical cultural context, acquired by generational layers of behaviour and experiences with clear need for creative action in everyday life of citizens.

"It is that when I see something which seems to be out there, like a book or a shape or a colour, it is in fact not something that is sitting out there waiting for me to recognize it as if I was somebody parachuted down from another planet. Rather there is a mutual history of what appears as the world and what I am as a living being with brains and a body. We cannot separate these two poles of the reality equation."
